Research projects/interests: I'm interested
in how the brains of first-time mouse mothers change in order to
allow a new suite of maternal behaviors to emerge. Our lab is particularly
interested in protective defense of the young, also known as maternal
aggression. We know that pheromonal input plays an important role
in triggering aggression in mouse mothers. My research focuses on
how the pheromonal sensing system differs between virgins and lactating
mice, and how those changes lead to very different responses to
a threatening stimulus
