Congratulations to Steve Carpenter!

Congratulations to Steve Carpenter who was awarded the Naumann-Thienemann
Medal on August 13th in Montreal. It is the highest international honor in
the field of limnology. He now joins UW Zoology luminaries, Edward Birge,
Chauncey Juday and Arthur Hasler who have received this award.

Noland Hall/Zoology Research tunnel/ramp project

The NH/ZR tunnel/ramp project starts on Monday 8/24 and goes to 10/15,
everyone is encouraged to use the Noland Hall loading dock for their
pick-ups and deliveries and not to use the south entry to Zoology Research
until the project finishes. _________________________________________________________

New Outside Door Key

The Keying of Zoology Research has progressed to the point that: keys are
on order and lock cylinders are being prepped for installation. Once the
keys are delivered and distributed and old outside door keys collected,
after hours passes will be reviewed and renewed for staff at the same time,
the lock cylinders will be install within the same day. Everyone will have
a new outside door key - Faculty, staff & students- all other keys will
work the same! _________________________________________________________

Zoology Fall Picnic

All Department of Zoology faculty, staff, TAs, postdocs, techs, emeriti,
family & friends are welcome!
Hoyt Park (big shelter), Top of Regent Street

Donate $3 per person in advance to Dawn in Noland or Anne in Limnology or
bring a dish to pass (dessert, salad or munchies).

The Zoology Department will provide liquid refreshments, hamburgers & brats.

How to get there from downtown:
*Go west on Regent Street.
*Pass West High School
*Continue straight on Regent.
(a cemetery will be on the left.)
*Hoyt Park is in the woods at the end of Regent Street (where it turns into
Owen Parkway, not to be confused with Owen Drive).
